The Free-For-All Interview

In yet another variation of the interview thread, I thought it might be nice to ask some interview questions to everyone, because I realize, in reading some of the interviews thus far, that I'd like to hear more people's answers to each question. Perspectives, yadda yadda.

So I offer to you: the free-for-all interview. I will supply a series of questions. You may choose to answer any number of them. You may, also, choose to add another question to the pool, and the next person may choose from any of the combinations, and so on.

1) How did you make the leap into message boardom? How did you make the leap into this particular community of people? Did you lurk? Was there a topic that pushed you over the line so that you could no longer hold your tongue? Who was the first person you talked to? Met?

2) What do you crave?

3) We started from Disney-based boards and migrated here. So if you're here, you probably either enjoy Disney, or know somebody who enjoys Disney. What is your favorite memory from a Disney park?

4) What are your opinions on touch? Who was the last person you touched?

5) What brings you relief? A person? A place? An idea? An object? An activity?

3) favorite Disney memory

The first time I went to the park with my husband, we weren't yet engaged. He proposed on the top deck of the Mark Twain, right before the fireworks. But that's not my favorite memory.

My favorite memory comes from one of the first days of the trip as we entered the park. It wasn't first thing in the morning so we'd given up hope of making it through the throngs of kids to see any characters. We were going to go to Toontown to see Mickey later on because we wanted to make sure we got to see him. My husband adores Mickey Mouse and has since he was little. I've heard the tape recording where he's two and won't talk to the recorder until they ask him to say "Mickey."

Anyhow, as we were heading down Main Street we spied Mickey over outside the Opera House. I suggested we go see him, since I knew how much Ryan wanted to see Mickey. He declined, because he wanted it to be "special" by seeing him in Toontown -- and didn't want to be disappointed by pushy parents cutting in line and Mickey having to leave because it was break time.

But I won that "discussion" and we stood in line. And we were the last ones to see Mickey before his break. I had my picture taken with him, as did my husband. And if you look at his photo, you can almost see the eyes welling up and the lip starting to quiver.

Because after Mickey left, as we were walking down Main Street, I happened to glance over and Ryan's face was beet red and he had an odd expression. I asked if he needed to sit down, and he nodded. We sat over to the side on a bench while my husband, the former Marine, tattoos all over, absolutely bawled with joy because he had finally met his childhood hero.

What is your favourite memory from a Disney Park?

So many, but a particular favourite is from my trip last year. Each night my sister, brother, bf and I would stay in DL until closing, doing rides, eatting churros and basically just soaking up the atmosphere. Then we'd grab a hot chocolate at closing time and walk back to the hotel. Happy times

What's your favorite thing to do in San Francisco?

I like catching the cable cars. Fisherman's Wharf is not my favourite place in SF, but getting there is so much fun. I love travelling through the neighbourhoods, imagining what it's like to live there, catching the most breathtaking views. It's great.

Question: Who was your first love?

I'll take #1 for $20 dollars....hehehe

I joined in on the message boardom over at MP. I was amazed that I happened upon MP through an internet search and saw that an old school pal was a writer on the website! So I hung around. I was a lurker for over a year before I ever joined. MA was the topic I jumped into, having just completed our 2nd MA. Yes I didn't post there before being in a 2nd MA! I'm am now a regular on at least 4 boards and I moderate on one of them. I still lurk on a few others.

This community? I lurked for a bit, I was invited to come over from elsewhere via PM, but just looked around. I finally jumped in on GD's "What are your Lounging habits?" thread my 1st post here.

People? I have seen some of you at MA's but I'm far to shy to actually walk up and meet people.

5) What brings you relief? A person? A place? An idea? An object? An activity?

Trite but true: Coming home to my husband. I have no idea what it means to live alone, but from this POV, I can't imagine life being half worth it without him. I can't exactly nail down why it's such a relief to just sit next to him and lay a head on his shoulder, but it is. Perhaps it's the idea of not having to take on the burdens of existance alone.

1) How did you make the leap into message boardom? How did you make the leap into this particular community of people? Did you lurk? Was there a topic that pushed you over the line so that you could no longer hold your tongue? Who was the first person you talked to? Met?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. DAMN you, Joss Whedon, for creating a show so compelling I had to seek out complete strangers (with names like Xander’s Woman and Mad Poetess for goodness’ sake!) with whom I could discuss your television show. I lurked for about a week before finally posting. I have no idea who I interacted with first, but the first real tete-a-tete I had influenced my decision to move back to Los Angeles (based on how adoringly he described the city), and we eventually met, liked each other, and we still hang out in person. Also, I met six of my closet lady friends (you included, of course) on that friggin' board.

2) What do you crave?

- Something of interest to ponder to the point of obsession.
- Novelty in fiction.
- A soundtrack to my life.
- Bread.
-Imaginary men.

3) We started from Disney-based boards and migrated here. So if you're here, you probably either enjoy Disney, or know somebody who enjoys Disney. What is your favorite memory from a Disney park?

My first ride on Space Mountain.

4) What are your opinions on touch? Who was the last person you touched?

I think stroking is soothing, feeling is educational, handling is best done carefully, fingering should only be attempted with meticulously manicured nails, contact can be sporting, tapping is annoying, laying a hand on can be healing, patting can be reassuring or (see tapping), and joining can be good fun, cheerio pip-pip, mind boggling divine, so-so-okay and whatever, thoroughly disappointing, and sometimes even humiliating.

Or, sometimes touch is just plain disgusting. I was the last person I touched and it was, I must agree with myself, disgusting. I hate wiping. I think all bathrooms in America should be equipped with bidets.

5) What brings you relief? A person? A place? An idea? An object? An activity?

- Nape of the neck kisses.
- Butt massages
- Stories
- My parent’s house
- Earl Grey Tea
- Stretching, even though I rarely do this, when I do I realize how much better it makes me feel.
- Escaping to a private space to release a little stink bird after being in public and having to hold it in. Fly, little warbling pee-ew, fly!
