actually I was more thinking we could hook them to generators to make prisoners earn their keep. sentence them to X number of kWh's of public service instead of years on a shelf

In London we were in an Underground station (though this station was not underground) that was the beginning of the line for one train. It was sitting there, nearly empty, with its doors open waiting to depart for several minutes. A pigeon walked on board and started hunting around for food. CP and I were hoping to see it get trapped inside when the train departed.

The "doors closing" tone sounded, and the pigeon immediately hopped off the train on cue. Yup, been there before.
