![]() I'd like to configure a very long list of items (over 200) which could be selected from a drop-down and have it tell me what category the item belongs to. Here’s a simple example of the type of list I have:
Code:
Item Category Apple Fruit Banana Fruit Carrot Vegetable Durian Fruit Eggplant Vegetable Does that make sense? Is it possible? |

Hmmm, I have really only used forms for collecting information from people, not taking information and applying a formula-slash-sorting it, which seems to me to be almost an Excel-type of thing.
I have a couple of people I could ask around work to see if they have an idea of what to do.

If Acrobat can't do the job, does anyone know of an inexpensive (or free!) web-based solution?

The job has become more complicated since I originally posted it. Now it it needs to be able to do multiple queries, so think it will have to be some kind of database. The source data will look something like this (though a LOT more detailed):
Code:
Item Category Seeds Color Finish Apple Fruit yes red glossy Banana Fruit no yellow matte Carrot Vegetable no orange matte Durian Fruit yes brown matte Eggplant Vegetable no purple glossy I'm in over my head... ![]() |

And I can "publish" (for lack of a better term) the database to the web and let people do their queries without installing additional software?

As long as you never inhale near one, you'll be okay.

Durian is an example where my nasal defenses are valuable (I am not a super smeller and my nose acclimates to strong odors quickly, which made some organic chemistry labs difficult).
It was very pungent when first cut but, for me, that didn't last and while it wasn't something that tasted good enough for me to ever seek out, I didn't think it was awful tasting. This was at an outdoor food stall in Singapore. Indoor experiences would probably be different. |
