Halloween Haunt - 10/31 Photo TR

Hey everybody!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween, we sure did...
We started out with a day at Disneyland/DCA, but the real fun was for later.

This is the second time this year that we got to see this sign.

Once again, Auntie Pastas had a decent spread - I love potatoes!

New for this year - Giant Spider Butt!

EuroMeinke and Not Afraid made new friends at dinner

A bunch of fiends in the park (Not Pictured - Not Afraid, sorry)

Scariest image of the night for NA

Our friend, the Prom Queen of Hatchet High!

We had a real blast on Red Moon Massacre (the haunted version of the Timber Mountain Log Ride)

Look at the smiley happy people!!

Last night was one of my favorite Haunt visits in years, with lots of good scares, and lot's of screaming (well, at least from the Monster Magnet).

Here he is demonstrating his safety skills:

And here's a little Hello Kitty carrying case we found for your, uh...surely there must be something long and cylyndrical you could put in this....

Ahhhhhh yes. That would be a Mr. DAN's fault.

OK, I can't tell this part without telling the Icee Bear story.

The Icee Bear Story

After church, my family used to go to Gemco to do our shopping. (Gemco was an early membership store that had groceries as well as toys, camping supplies, tools, crap, you name it.) I was about 15 when my parents went off to buy groceries and I stayed in the toy department to look at those horse models girls liked.

As I was standing in front of the display, the Icee Bear came up to me and said "Hi Lisa". I was so embarassed! The Icee Bear know my name and was TALKING to me! He chatted on for a while asking about parts of my life no Icee Bear should know when my Dad found me. The Icee Bear said "Hi, Mr C___" and I wanted so badly to melt into the floor.

Well, it turns out that one of my classmates - a geeky guy named Todd - had gotten as summer job as the Icee Bear. So, fine, everything was solved and we could move on. Right?

Wrong. I developed a deep aversion to people in full character costume - especially when you could not see their face. When someone I knew was "portraying Pinocchio" at Disneyland and found me, I had the same "wanting to melt into the floor" sensation. I had no idea it was her and I KNEW she knew me. However, she couldn't talk so it was better. My aversion is uncomfortable - but only of they know me and I don't know who they are.

So, back to Knotts.........

Icee has a big presence at Knotts so, between that and the fact that there are masked characters talking to you all over the place, I was a bit wary. I told Matt and Rose the Icee Bear story after we saw our first Icee sign.

A bit later we ran into a group of Disney guys having Boys Night Out - one of these was the husband of cstephens another was Dusty's roommate and big lovebug Dan. I hadn't seen Dan for months since he's been in India and I didn't want to let him go. He was drinking a boysenberry Icee which he offered me a sip of. I made a reference to the fact that Icee's were haunting me that night (dumb) so I had to tell the story to the group.

So, we go on to other subjects and Dan goes off to "get a pretzel". (Now, I had been expecting all night for the obvious to happen, but since it hadn't, I thought I was safe....nope). Next thing I know someone is behind me saying LISAAAAAAA. I thought it was Dan until I felt hairs on my shoulder. Then "the hairy Dan" says "Would you like an Icee?????" I turn around and there's this monster standing face to face with me and everyone else in the group is laughing. Dan approaches and I go after him like the brat he is.

But, I didn't scream. You know why? Because I am Not Afraid.

I always preferred 7-Eleven's slurpees.

A damned funny story, however!
