				9 days

I have an opportunity to take 9 days off using only 3 vacation days. The problem is, I don't know what to do with myself for 9 days. I don't have money to travel and the time frame is the week between xmas and new years.

Do you have money enough to do a road trip? There's tons of stuff to see in SoCal. You could do touristy things you don't normally do as a resident.

Day 1 = Do any housework you need to get done that will leave you free for the remaining 8 days

Day 2 = Take a long spa day, soak in the tub (or a long hot shower), listen to great music, read a book or take in a matinee (they're usually much cheaper than evening shows) Day 3 = Drive to the beach alone or with someone you love and take a long walk along the shore adirming the CA scenery I miss so much Day 4 = pull something wonderful out of the freezer or peruse a good cookbook if you like to cook and make yourself and a friend or loved one a spectacular meal you would never normally do on a weekday Day 5 = Spend the whole day doing just nothing if you want. Lounging, sleeping, spending far too much time on the LoT. Day 6 = Do something local, a tourist thing you never do, visit a museum or an exhibit Day 7 = Find some scenic spots in your area, weather permitting and take photos (if you have a digi camera, even better and cheaper) look for something that interests you, that is beautiful or just strange. Look for odd perspectives or interesting people, animals, signs, buildings, etc., you'd be amazed what you find in your camera when the day is done. Day 8 = If you're local, call NA and see if you can get into mischief. It may cost some dough, but I'll bet dollars to donuts you'd have an absolute blast Day 9 = Disneyland, try for a Sunday meet up and you'll have a bunch of fun meeting new people from LoT and mice chat, so I've seen from lurking on MC. Gosh, if I were in LA right now, I could think of a million things, including a drive to Long Beach to meet NA since we could not get together my last trip Donna

How about taking some time for you and some time for others? Some volunteer work? There's always more help needed during the holidays. Plus, it looks good on your resume.

It sounds so tempting; lord knows I could use a vacation from work. At the same time everyone is gone and I can use those 3 days to catch up on work from the other 360 days with no one bugging me. I'm still thinking about it. |
