OMG, Prudence that story used to keep my up at night when I was a kid. That and Lallarona (I have no idea how that is spelled). To make things worse, Indi and I walked to the park tonight along the mile long path that is near our house. There were four police cars and a cop going around asking people if they had seen a guy in a red hat and shirt. I asked him if it was safe to walk home and he says, "I dunno. Probably." Thanks.

Lol, I was wishing for a spy kit so I could dust for prints. I don't know what I would do with them if I had them, but it sounded fun.

I learned that if you get some silicone adhesive (found in the paint section of your local harware store with the caulking), and rub a little on your fingertips, you will not have any fingerprints.
I learned this when working with silicone on a project several months ago. Handy to know if you feel like starting a life of crime.

IT sounde like it is time to invest in a security screen door. I know they are not the most attractive things in the world, but I would never ever have a house without one.

Frodo will bark at the sounds he hears throughout the house. The dogs may be conditioned to bark at the door opening. If the wind blew open the door, they might be reacting to the sound of the door opening. However, when there's someone at the door and Frodo sees him/her, his bark is vastly different. It is more intense and evil sounding. Do your dogs have a different bark when they see someone? Was that kind of bark you heard? It may be a clue.
Also, do you usually keep the bottom door lock locked? Or do you rely totally on the latch at the top? I'd get into the habit of locking the door with the lock on the knob if you have one. If it was locked, then someone jimmied the door open. Is there evidence of that anywhere? I'd also invest in an automatic sensor that turns on the light when someone is at the front door. My 2 cents. |

It was her, "sound the alarm" bark, but she may have just thought someone was at the door. She was pretty nervous for an hour or so afterward. Laid by the stair rails (you can see the door from the second floor living room) and watched the door, etc.
It was only the top latch that was locked. Honestly, I'm horrible about locking doors. The latch probably wouldn't even be locked, but it's the only thing keeping Indi from opening the door. I suppose I should be more vigilant. Fortunately, if someone does manage to get past the locks they'll have to deal with 300+ pounds of dane.
