Frames
I've been inspired to start decorating with frames. I need frames, and lots of them. The size I'm looking for is 40x40. I'm looking for other sizes too but those seem more standard.
I think I'd like plain frames so I can paint them, but decorated frames are nice too. Does anyone have experience buying frames? Cheap is good. |

40x40 is standard?
![]() To me, standard is 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20, but I deal in photos mostly. I love to do my own framing, and I purchase antique frames whenever possible. But that is beacause I deal in vintage photos, both ends can be expensive. Framing in and of itself can be a horribly expensive thing to do. Depends on what you are framing and how much protection you want/need. Although I can recommend that some framers will have some dicount frames available which they make from scrapped or extra mouldings. Rarely in such a size. So, I know I have not answered your question....

I mean the other sizes are standard and I won't have a problem finding them. I'm looking for 40x40 to frame some t-shirts.

I am going to the Buffalo Exchange today. But I don't think they have frames.

Places like Big Lots often have basic sorts of frames for cheap.

IKEA is a good choice for frames too.

Places like Aaron Brothers or other frame stores actually have a very good selection of standard-size premade frames for relatively little ($10-$30, cheaper if you wait for their buy-one-get-one sales). We were able to find a couple for our Shag framing project there.

If you have Michael's I've seen frames there in many sizes. It's a craft store by the way.
