The dress is a floral print that ranges from a medium rose to a purple that is almost black, all on a dark silver background. I want to find something that matches that silver color in a jacket or shrug or shawl that keeps the whole look appropriate for a dressy occasion.

How about a wrap? A rectangle stays away from the Jemima Puddleduck look so possible with a triangular shawl. Here's a youtube a friend made about how to wear shawls so you don't look like a grandma.

If you search "wrap" at nordstroms.com, they've got a sheer silk crepe in a dove gray for $58. I don't know how you feel about the gray. It could be lovely but a pink or purple could be lovelier and that, sadly, does not exist in this item. It would depend on the dress, of course.

Over at overstock.com the word "pashmina" brings up lots of lovely possibilities, including an irridescent silk-and-wool number for $19.99 today

Does this one coordinate at all? The quality looks pretty nice. It's $71.99.
