I just don't think about going off and doing something on my own at the time.
I understand your thinking, and here are other ways to look at meeting online people you know in person:

--For those of us who had "pen pals" before e-mail and the Internet, how cool would it be to finally meet your pen pal in person? In this case, instead of just writing to one person, we're all writing to a group of people at Lounge of Tomorrow with similar interests.

--Meeting a bunch of Disney fans at Disneyland can be one of the best ways to meet online acquaintances in person. It's a very public place with thousands of Guests, Cast Members, and fellow-Disney fans all around you.

--Meeting people you know for the first time does not have to be a big ordeal or an organized meet. Just a brief "hello" or chat would suffice, especially if you're on a family vacation. And, even family members or friends probably would not mind resting their feet in a shaded spot or air-conditioned building for a couple minutes while you say "hi" to some people you know or meet in person for the first time. Bring them along for those few minutes; you don't have to separate from your group/family.

--There's no pressure to actually meet anyone in person, but many people find that their online visits to certain boards will be enhanced after you've actually met some of your fellow bulletin-board members in person. It's about putting screen names, faces and personalities together in real life.

--Lastly, I'll just attest to the friendliness and overall welcoming atmosphere of just about everyone I've met from LoT. Just look at all the pictures and Disneyland experiences that many people post or write about here!
