Why the hell did Charlie have to drown there? I took like 2 minutes to flood that one tiny room, it's not like the station was going to be instantly depressurized if he didn't. He closed it to keep Desmond to out and possibly drowning also knowing Penny was on the other end of the transmission. He sacrificed himself so Desmond could have the chance to see Penny.
