I just discovered that there is a rapper who calls himself Thirstin Howl III, a punk band out of Seattle with the name Thurston Howl, and several other dogs who stole Thurston's name.
Also, this thread pops up (already!) as the number 8 return on a Google search for "Thurston Howl"!
