Newsom to Savage's Son: Keep Your $25K

California gubernatorial candidate and marriage equality supporter Gavin Newsom has kicked a $25,000 donation back to the son of conservative radio show host Michael Savage.
Russell Weiner is the CEO of Rockstar Energy Drinks which, according to San Francisco activist Aaron Baldwin, is a family business. He says documents show Savage’s wife -- Janet Weiner; Savage’s real name is Michael Weiner -- serves as the chief financial officer for both Rockstar and Savage Productions.
Baldwin urged the Newsom campaign to reject to donation earlier this month. Savage, known for his homophobic radio rants, appeared on a list of 16 people barred from entering the United Kingdom. The “name and shame” list also included antigay pastor Fred Phelps.
