Traditionally, straight men, alone at sea, or on tractors all day, or sweating under cars, name their machinery after women. They carve mermaids on the bow and paint bombshells on their planes. They say "c'mon baby" while trying to get the machinery to purr. It makes sense.

I've never felt that machines were females to me. To me, cars don't purr, they growl, they roar. The smells of grease and exhaust, and the power and muscle concepts evoke masculinity in my mind. It's sexy, but for different reasons. I translate it into something sexy for me - which again, makes sense.

I'm surprised to hear of gay men that see their sexy cars as female. Interesting.
