I'm telling you, pill pockets. They are possibly the finest invention on this planet. They're hollowed out treats. You put the pill inside, squish it closed, and the cat practically rips off your fingers trying to get at the smelliest, stinkiest, most cat-favored treat on the planet. Boris has CRF and takes 3 pills a day. I'd have no flesh left if there wasn't a way for him to get him to take pill voluntarily. They make pill pockets for dogs, too.
