Totally. I think there's a limit to this regarding flooring though. When you put down mock hardwood flooring that will obviously require a rug (and non-slip mat underneath said rug) and suddenly you can't open a door over it because there's 2 additional flooring layers underneath, it's just silly. It's workable in our downstairs area but the bath mat in the upstairs bathroom stops the door cold. Very aggravating, as the mat keeps having to be moved.
