While the San Diego Zoo was not on the list, if you get an annual pass to the SD Zoo, it also covers the Wild Animal Park (and vice versa). Their AP is not much more than a single day. Susan and I had a "couple's pass" and it was only like $18 more than two single day passes for the two of use. They also have a "family pass."

About 4 hours from either LA or San Francisco. I could plan out a great weekend which would include Hearst Castle, outdoor hot tubs in the woods at night at
Sycamore Mineral Springs (see photos below), possibly staying at
the Apple Farm (Susan and I's FAVORITE hotel) and other fun surprises.

Just make sure you know that most of the town (if not all - I am not sure) is a rebuild. Most of it burned down is a massive fire a few years back.

You can join Susan and I (and a couple of thousand others) at the
Portrero War. You can watch a bunch of (Renaissance and before) geeks put on a lot of steel and go beat up on each other. Or you can participate if you like, but that is (in my opinion) WAY too much effort!
