Maybe it's my having been born in New York, but I don't understand this attitude. It's a modest precaution, like washing your hands, that can prevent a lot of grief.

Sorry to hear about your school. If something like that happened at my school, it wouldn't surprise me. I must be getting old. On the other hand, if something like that had happened at my school back in the day, it wouldn't have surprised me either.
