Advice Needed For Local Day Out...

Yes, I am last minute here, sorry about that.

It just dawned on me that you guys are a wealth of info and ideas so why not tap it?

I need help~

I have a friend coming in from Australia and tomorrow we are supposed to meet up {I have to say, I am not sure if it is for lunch or dinner}.

I am not sure where to do this. She is staying in Huntington Beach and would like it to be an easy find as she is now accoustomed to driving on the left side...well, first day back I don't want to confuse her with a lot of freeway changes...so, hopefully right off of Hwy 5.

The other part of this is that we are also meeting up with someone from Temecula. So, we've agreed on a place right about in the middle.

Carlsbad? Oceanside? I don't know!!

And, what is there to do in these parts?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I've gone to their websites and really don't get them {since I've never been there or done that}.

What types of thing does she like to do? Are there kids involved? The San Diego County Fair is on at the moment (isn't it?). Solana Beach has a cute downtown for shopping.

Speaking of shopping, the outlet shops in Carlsbad are awesome! Coach, Dooney & Burke, Calvin Klein (I raided that shop) & many, many others. I know, you can outlet shop anywhere. But if you dream like I do, it will be your goal to visit them all.

Are the Carlsbad flower fields still in bloom?

Wanna do something historical and California-y, you could take them up to Mission San Juan Capistrano. Technically South OC, I know, but great for out-of-towners and Californians alike. Plus, there are some cute restaurants and antique shops right around the Mission. I've actually been thinking about suggesting SJC for a swanking, but haven't gotten around to it.

Well, first, no kids. {no offense...just a lot of girl talk to catch up on}

I know there will be eating involved and then we'll need some walking about to do.

The shops sound good, we can shop and gab at the same time.

I wonder who is playing the fair??? Good idea!

I need to look up Solana Beach...I am so geographically inept...

I wanted to do SJC but that has {so far} been said to be difficult for the third party. I liked it because my Aussie pal and I, if we wanted to, could take the train.

If that ever does take off as a Swanky Meet, I would love to go! I've never strolled about, only ate at the Jacks' and grabbed a coffee on the way to Disneyland.
