How is this possible?

The guy who caught the home run ball is going to be nailed with taxes based upon its value even if he doesn't sell it. That's crazy!

Well...capsulated version:

I get to keep the house.
He has to pay almost double what he was willjng to pay.
Mediation stands as it is.
Now that I have health insurance from work he can remove me, but if I ever am not covered he has to add me back on (per the judge).
We almost got to see Dawn in cuffs when she refused to leave the courtroom. My lawyer has a policy that when it is time to talk in front of the judge no one else should be there but the 2 parties. She refused to leave. He finally told her she can get out on her own or he would call the baliffs and sheriff to cuff her and remove her forcably. While we were not in there, my lawyer gave us (my sister and friend) a running commentary on what was going on.
Basically, I got a good deal financially, and even better, I have my son.
David has to come up with an itemized list of items he wants before he can remove anything else from the garage/yard/house.

David & Dawn are not happy campers this afternoon.
I just want to cry.

YAY MG - at least that part is over. And you came out ahead. I can't imagaine how stressful it was. I only had a mediation and I cried hysterically for hours after (I came out ahead too) just from the stress of it all.

I LOVE that she almost got forceably removed from the court. Although it would have been funnier if they had actually cuffed her and dragged her out (you can add that to the re-telling of the tale later).

Now you can just concentrate on your life. And getting on with it. Heck in a few years you might even look forward too and enjoy your kid free weekends.

Oh, and the most satisfying, yet hardest thing I did today was turn off his cell phone. It was under my name, and he refused to pay for any part of it, so the judge told me to go ahead and turn it off. His lawyer was blustering over it, trying to say I couldn't do it. The judge asked me if it was possible, I said it was in my name and I had already found out how to get it off the contract. At 3:45 pm today his cell stopped working.

I feel awful that I did it, but it had to be done.
