I'm excited! Although I don't have anything pink to wear..good thing too, I'd look like a very large poof of cotton candy if I did.

I've never been to Pinks for a dog. Funny.

Pink's is awesome. You wouldn't think a hot dog could be worth the wait in line, but theirs actually IS. It's better than Cupid's!

I don't get it. In the Longe of Tomorrow, we're the horse and Seamonkey is our trainer?

I like that better. We're just like yesterday's Longe, but in better quality audio.

OK so now we are a couple weeks away from our day o' pink -- perhaps we should make the itinerary, no? Everyone should have my cell phone number in case you get lost, confused, stolen, misdirected by Lisa, walloped, pancaked, or smurfed. PM me if you do not.

As the concert starts at 7:30, we will need to ARRIVE at the Bowl I would say at 5:00 to get a nice eating area outside the bowl grounds. Not that EVERYONE needs to be there at that time, mind you, but at least some of us do as we do want a good eating spot, no? We have two options as far as this is concerned.

Eating inside the area where you give your tickets isn't a good option, since then I'll be worried about everyone getting their ticket, so:

1) Park and eat down by the parking (FYI, parking at the bowl is $13/car. You can also go to hollywoodbowl.com to look at other parking options). Here is a map of the bowl, I am talking about where it says "Lot D", which is accessed when you come north on highland (where we'll be coming from). There's a nice house-y looking museum down there, grass and benches. There's a couple of more secluded areas with benches, but we'd need to get there super early to stake out those spots :P. The advantage to this, especially if you park there, is that you don't need to schlep unnecessary stuff up the hill to the Bowl, since anything extra from dinner you can put back into your car

2) Other eating option is to park wherever at the Bowl, and eat outside the bowl itself on the grass (where it says "The Plaza" on that map) or one of the bench areas listed by numbers 2, 3, and 4 on that map. These areas are nice because they're closer to the bowl, but it is more of a schelp.

My vote is for the less schleppy.

As far as WHAT food to bring, I think our trips to the cemetary screenings can serve as a model. It is sort of semi-potluck -- bring something for yourself and something you can share around.

Try and stay in the theme and make it pink! Pink lemonade, who wants to bring fixins for the pink martinis?

Now, onto the Pink day PRIOR to our arrival at the Bowl -- our ideas were to have Pink's (hot dogs) for lunch, go to Pinkberry, and perhaps stroll around the land of the pink triangle (west hollywood). Any other ideas on what to do after lunch and dessert? I'd say that part of the day should start at noon at Pink's, otherwise we'll never be hungry for the dinner!!!

Phew!!! That was a lot to type up. Your suggestions, please!

Um, no ... Pink's is for the after-Bowl snack.

Lunch is at Pink Taco, with dessert at Pinkberry next door. Then it's off to Trader Joe's for picnic shopping, and up to the Bowl for Hahahah, more food picnic dinner. (of course, the Pinks can be shuffled around ... but Pink Taco is way more yummy than Pink's, while Pink's is more snackable and quite the L.A. icon of late-night action)

As for the location of that picnic dinner ...welll, personally, I prefer more schlep and nicer picnic spots up on the hill ... but it really don't matter much. How many people are we talking for picnic dinner?

And how many / who is interested in the longer Pink line-up of Pink Lunch, Pink Dessert (and possibly Pink late-night snack)?

One of the advantages for anybodies getting together beforehand for the Full Day of Pink ... is we could potentially stuff all the schlepables in one vehicle, and park that vehicle in expensive Bowl parking ... while everyone else parks in (relatively) cheaper Hollywood parking and strolls up to the Bowl to meet up with the schlepables - which then require much less schleppage.

Dear lord how much food can we eat in one day??? LOL that morning I'm doing a friggin hour on the elliptical or I'll be a-waddlin out of there. I'm not sure if I personally can do the Pink's hotdogs afterwards since it's a work nite, but I'll play it by ear.

The whole Pink Taco for lunch thing is a-ok, then pinkberry, then a stroll up and down pinktown, then trader joe's (there's one extemely close to pinkberry, so all of that requires only one parking, good idea), then up to the Bowl.

As far as expensive/not expensive bowl parking is concerned:
Bowl parking is $13 at the "official" lots. Oddly enough, the non-official lots up and down highland charge around $20, and they are actually farther.

Other options are to park at Hollywood/Highland and take the shuttle up there ($3/person I think, plus whatever parking charges the complex charges). I'm not sure how much parking is for that, but I hate the shuttle. Hate hate hate hate hate it. It is a frigging pain in the ass to find and take on the way back. I know the Conemonkeys do it all the time tho and think it is swell (when they take the subway in), but I do NOT want to carry all that stuff on a shuttle and have to deal with teenagers screaming where to stand at you when you're trying to find the right one back. To me, it is worth a measly few dollars to not deal with that.

I suppose we could just pack everything in one or two cars, but then there's the logistics of having two carloads of people up at bowl parking waiting around for the rest of the group to walk a mile and/or take a shuttle, then find them, THEN start schlepping. Do-able, but massively time consuming.

Oh and IsM were you thinking it would be better to picnic on that lawn-ish area in the plaza, or stake out an actual picnic table up by the bowl? Just curious what the preference was

I disagree about the "nicer" picnic areas being up higher. We've done the picnicking down on the parking LoT lawns these last few times because we've found it to be much nicer, still very popular but definitely not as crowded as up higher where you have to fight for real estate. Down in the lot there are a couple lawns to choose from, one of which has an actual house sitting next to it (which is some kind of museum now, I think?), shade trees, much more space, plus the aforementioned added bonus of less schlepping.

Nice thing to do is: picnic on the LoT lawn, then bring snacks or perhaps dessert (since we'll be pretty full) up the hill with you.
