The last thing I got:
More on Burton sale: Tim Burton Garage Sale Update Posted by AMID at 09:09 AM The Tim Burton garage sale that Cartoon Brew first broke the story on, and which has subsequently spread around the Internet like wildfire this past week, reportedly does not have the official endorsement of Tim Burton. According to the Tim Burton Collective, the following are Burton's comments sent out via email from TimBurton.com: "It recently came to my attention that a warehouse sale, claiming to include "previously -owned" items of mine, is scheduled to take place. Allegedly, these items include props, memorabilia and costumes from various films I have directed, as well as some drawings of mine that were private gifts--never meant for public display or purchase. Since I have not been contacted by the sellers, it is important to note that I can in no way vouch for the authenticity of these items. I am completely against the selling of personal items in such a public way." It's important to note that there's no way to confirm the validity of whether these comments are actually from Burton, but WOW Report has this additional bit of info: "It's strictly ex-girlfriend Lisa Marie getting rid of stuff he gave her over the years or just left behind when they broke up. Their split was not amicable." So at this point, it seems like the garage sale will still contain a lot of Burton's possessions, but it's more like Lisa Marie's garage sale than Burton's. Also interesting to note, one of the items up for grabs will be this chair prop from ED WOOD.

The same Lisa Marie that Jackson was married to? Why can I not imagine Tim Burton and Michael Jackson having the same taste in women?

No, not Lisa Marie Presley. Just Lisa Marie. She was in Sleepy Hollow and Mars Attacks!, among other things.

I wonder if she'll be selling her portrait by Margaret Keane. I saw a reproduction (not for sale) at the Keane gallery a few years ago. It's droolicious!
(I'll look for a copy to show you all)

There's an article in today's New York Times about the sale. Apparently, most of the cool stuff was sold to "a private bidder" the night before the sale. Burton fans who lined up for the sale got the scraps. Bummer.

I totally forgot to post this.. Came from a woman thats on an art list with me.
Hi, I am a new member to the group and I did go the to Lisa Marie sale, so I am happy to report about it. I arrived about two hours in, and what I saw pretty much was the garage sale of a well-to-do Westside woman, with a few eccentric items thrown in. She was/is a model and there were lots of clothes, shoes and used make-up. The sale was held at an Azusa storage facility, which she and Tim Burton apparently still own together, according to one of the people managing the sale. Whatever was movie-related was long gone when I arrived, save for that chaise lounge from "Ed Wood," which was priced at $20,000. There were very good deals on giant crystal wine goblets and Egyptian cotton bed linens ($5 wine glasses, $20 bed sets), and ridiculous "garage sale" prices on clothing ($1200 dresses, $300 high heeled boots) and things like wooden boxes similar to those holding tubes of oil paints. The latter, because they contained Karl Lagerfeld seasonal clothing design catalogs, were $200 each. Practically everyone waiting in the 45-minute line to get inside was wearing black, me included, although I swear I did not plan it that way. Must have been a subliminal tribute to Tim. I also was easily the only person over 35 when I first arrived. The 45-minute wait was the best part of the sale. I got to listen to a woman screaming into a cell phone directly behind me, who apparently edits film for "SuperNanny." She spent an enormous amout of time fretting loudly with someone on the other end of the line about a family that she wasn't sure really should be allowed to appear on "SuperNanny" because the father had a truly impressive criminal record. I had to agree with her, having caught at least one episode of "SuperNanny." That family obviously needs more help than child-rearing advice from a firm British woman dressed in a loud purple suit. The guy in line in front of me looked like Mic Mars of Motley Crue, whose looks always have absolutely fascinated me. I am sure I completely embarrassed myself because I simply could not take my eyes off of him, despite the equally fascinating distraction of the vocal "SuperNanny" film editor. As far as what people were buying, those people in black had no interest in Karl Lagerfeld catalogs and pink thigh boots with 5-inch heels, so I would say that the majority of the people -- and I am grossly generalizing here -- who were there around 11am Friday either left with 1.) household items 2.) black velvet hangers (she had a million of them for $1 each) or 3.) something leopard-patterned (they were really into animal prints) Your Azusa reporter, "name withheld"

Thanks for the update, Ponine.
LOL That is funny. Well, maybe I should have a yard sale and say it is a 'Chris Cornell' yard sale? Uh, not that I would be selling any of my CC stuff. No sir. But I could put up a poster or two.... ![]() And hell-o, no thanks. If I am going to spend that much money on a dress, I would prefer it to not be used. Geesh. Or at least vintage. ![]()
