Yeah, battery life can be an issue. I forget what I did but someone here on LoT gave advice on something you can shut off to burn less power on the phone.
My other issue is that if I set the phone down exactly flat or bump it too hard it randomly shuts itself off. That being said, otherwise I think it's a terrific phone and I still recommend it to people. (the Motorola Q, that is)
