So am I the only one that had no idea there was an English translation for that song or did they just make one up?

I learned of the "translation" only a few years ago. There was a fansite about it (web 1.0) that I can't find now, and wikipedia doesn't have much detail. I fuzzily remember that the site claimed the Ewok words were written first, and the English made up later, during filming.

If you want to sound really dumb, sing it in English.
