A week from today I will be at the Academy screening of Four Horsemen. WooHoo! It will be basically a drive by visit, but, hopefully see the mousepods at the venue.

I'm totally digging my new bike, although I've yet to ride her (need a tire pump, which is coming in Friday). I also ordered a solar powered cellphone adapter, so I can use the GPS navigation app or my Last.fm app while I ride, without worry of losing battery life.

That was a first. Bus pulled up and both slots on the bike rack were taken. I could have waited for the next bus and still made it to work on time. But screw that.

2.8 miles later (for a total of 5 miles this morning) I was at my stop...and I beat the bus. Not the bus I chose not to wait for, but the bus I was originally planning on getting on.

I was sweatier than I care to be at work in the morning, and not equipped for a shower. But a few splashes of cold water and some time in our frigid test lab has taken care of that.

That was more than half my total ride distance, and it was no problem at all. I'm thinking next week I'll take the plunge and forgo the bus entirely.

I keep a bag at work that has a change of clothes and showering stuff in it.

On another bike-related note, I now have a speedometer/odometer installed on my bike and that 10mph speed limit is even more absurd than I realized. My bare minimum cruising speed, where I'm at the edge of fighting for every last bit of momentum, is 14mph. My comfortable cruising speed that gives me my most efficient ride so I don't wear myself out over the 9 miles is 15mph. If I had to limit myself to 10mph, I simply wouldn't be able to make the ride, I'd wear myself out just fighting every slight incline due to lack of momentum.
