Scrooge- feel better soon! That sounds painful but I'm glad your doc says you're healing.

Kids walking to school- good idea. I think too many parents are too paranoid, but the first time *anything* bad happens, everybody's going to absolutely scream, so adult supervision is probably a reasonable precaution on the part of the school. Crossing guards are only nominally for the kids- sure it means they do get across safely, but especially close to the school, it's in large part so traffic will actually flow. Without some control, intersections can bottleneck. A couple of kids start to cross, the cars stop, since the cars are stopped, a few more kids cross... So I guess I support either crossing guards or adult supervision while walking to school. Maybe not both together, but I can see both being useful.

I left the house feeling like I'd very 'creatively' matched my outfit, mixing patterns - pinstriped pants with lace trim on camisole under sweater and lace on shoes. But, now that the light of day has been on me for a while, I feel less matched and more crazy.

Oh well, I still think it's kind of cute - I just wish I'd worn black shoes.

I bought a new shirt at Target last week. I usually don't wear any sort of patterns or anything other than solid colors, but this shirt caught my eye and I thought I looked pretty good when I tried it on. It's blue, long sleeved (rolled to elbows) with white stripes. The blue stripes are an inch or so wide and the white stripes are around 1/4" surrounded by small lighter blue stripes.

The point is that after I bought the shirt and decided I liked it, I looked at the label. "Preppy Shirt". Really? "Preppy"? Is this 1985 and no one told me? Eta: It's this one only darker blue.
