| I just turned down a shoot for this afternoon. It was a "deferred pay" gig, without even reimbursement for mileage or tape stock. Why the heck do people expect creative services for free??? |

				            | I'm guessing "deferred pay" is more than payment after services received? Or is it customary to pay in advance for video services? |

As for regular video services, it's common to receive a deposit at the start of a project, and the rest upon delivery. But, for single day, last minute shoots, it's common to just receive pay at the end of the day once the tapes are handed in. And, having been screwed over by that "network" from last year, I will never hand over tapes without immediate payment again. So, if someone doesn't have the money that day, I'll only give them the tapes once they do. Also, I've had my fill of completely gratis work. The Hollywood shoot was the last for me, because that gained me some serious contacts for future paying work. (There are one-time things I'll still do for friends though as my schedule allows, since that's what friends are for.) I just ain't workin' for free no more. Show me the money, dammit.

				            | You're a professional, you deserve to be paid. Nothing wrong with that.

				     | Heres an update: The owner (not mom) to the 8 month old doggie I was trying to get has desided to breed her instead. So, not only is the puppy lonely, the babies will be too. What is the matter with person who get a dog and don't interact with them. As husband and I were taking about the addition, Molly and Tanner started to be more playful, and cute sencing we may get an additional dog.

I wonder if the same people would breed their children and then sell the offspring for profit also?
