I kind of miss the ol' undergrad days when Sam and I would wander the aisles of the Haggen grocery store late at night trying to find SOMETHING to satisfy her carb cravings. The "bake in pan" kosher-for-Passover brownies were NOT a hit. She usually made it to about Thursday before she broke down.

The most fun was probably the time our French class was in Paris over Easter/Passover (which coincided that year.) Sam went off to her French relatives for Seder and I kind of regret not going with her, but none of them spoke English and I still have very little knowledge of the traditions -- and it would have meant missing the group trip to the Loire valley, so I stayed with the group. But one night we were all at dinner and we had the glass of wine out for whomever that is that comes and drinks the glass of wine. And Sam had had more than her share of glasses of wine when a branch tapped on the window and she jumped up, exclaiming that whatshisface was at the window and we should let him in and promptly broken the latch trying to open it in her inebriated state. It doesn't really come out the way I've described it, but that was one of THE most entertaining meals of all time. Alas, Methodists tend to be more teetotaling -- but we do throw a mean potluck.

So Happy Passover to you, and thanks for reminding me of some good memories.
