Get this.

CP pulled the fan and motor out of the housing this evening to double check measurements. She noticed 2 things. First, that the housing itself isn't going to come down without a fight, so fan-replacement-only may be our only option.

Second, she had trouble locating exactly where the duct opening was in order to measure it. When I got home I helped take a closer look...the opening to the duct was covered by a foam-rubber disc! WTF?! We pulled that off and the fan seemed instantly quieter and like it was pulling more air.

Still too loud for our tastes, but geebus, we've been living for 2 years with a fan that had no outlet. Laaaaaame.
