I believe they threatened to not give you your diploma if you skipped rehearsal. Don't know if they ever followed through on that threat.

We were also required to be at the school the following morning bright and early for graduation practice, which suuuucked.

I guess I was lucky: our Grad Nite was the actual night of our graduation.

We essnetially just got a printout with a timeline, instructions on where to be, and an admonishment to behave.

Yup. It was the kind of thing where everyone said "they wouldn't dare, f this, I'm not showing" and no one dared to stay away. This may be a false memory but I believe one kid didn't show up and he was not allowed to walk across the stage and had to do some summer school or something. I didn't know the guy so all I heard was rumor...

I remember this being a source of grumbling and rumors about our school not being big enough or rich enough to muscle into the appropriate night. I know DL has multiple Grad Nites, and it would be interesting to find out how they assign each school to each night.
