Tonight I went with Venezia to the Capitol Club, which is on Capitol Hill, of course. Decor is quite swanky. In fact, swanky is the word V used to describe the place. It has sort of a Moroccan vibe. The bar is upstairs. (Note to other patrons: if there's only one handrail, please let the heavyset tipsy woman in 3 inch heels coming down the stairs have the handrail. Please.)

The bar is upstairs and there's a restaurant downstairs. We may have to check out the restaurant some time. Of course it's up for competition with the purportedly authentic Moroccan down the street and the crepe place I can not believe is still up the street. (Every place I know closes! But 611 Supreme is still there!)

But back to the Capitol Club. They mix a strong drink! I had the Torquemada, of course. It was very tasty! Definitely going to try this place again. I need to sample the Casbah and the Emerald.

I had the Chocolatini (Sp) over at the Uva bar this past sunday evening. It was wonderful! If it wasn't for the $9 price tag, I would've had several!

It was like a hot fudge sundae that was melted. Yum!

You should try Friday's Mudslide. It's like a chocolate shake but with booze. It's YUM-Delicious!

Friday's Mudslide is absolutely the best! But alas, the doctor has declared no alcohol for me, for awhile anyway...

Enjoyed an evening at Chat Noir in Costa Mesa last night. It's pretty swanky and a little on the expensive side but the food looks great and the drinks and atmosphere are very cool. I didn't get the opportunity to eat dinner but a gentleman at the bar next to me was eating spare ribs that looked delicious! He said the meat was so tender that he didn't even use a fork. Some other people I spoke with highly recommended dinner there. I plan on going back. But what I really enjoyed was the jazz/blues entertainment in the bar area. Great date place too!

He's still going strong around these parts. I've been to his latest place - Rouge at Fashion Island. Pretty cool place!!

Really? I had no idea!

When I met him earlier this year he was considering doing something more central Orange. I hope he does, I hate having to drive all the way to Newport or Costa Mesa just for a nice fancy dinner!

Meantime, you must try Chat Noir or Rouge.

Orange International Street Fair begins this Friday! If you haven't been to the Street Fair here in good old Orange, CA then you're missing out! It includes German, Swiss, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Greek, Irish and even American foods and some cool selections of beers. Free entertainment, free admission and pricey but good food!

Ever since I worked at Chapman University, it's been a tradition to take in the Street Fair starting Friday at 3pm. Chapman closes its doors early just because the president of the university believes it's important people go! We'll start our evening at O'Haras Pub which usually has beer specials just for the weekend. At approximately 6pm, we'll head back out into the sunlight to start eating our way (and drinking our way) thru the fair. First stop, German food! I'd list all of our stops but get the idea. Lastly, we close our evening drinking in front of Rod's Liquor Store until 9pm then once the fair stops serving alcohol we close either Oharas, Pauls or the District! And that's just on Friday!

Here's to the upcoming Labor Day weekend!

Can't wait!!
