I beginning to agree with Ted Turner's comment about the media (even his own CNN) being the 'pervert of the month' club. They need to dwell on real issues not this crap.

Is it wrong of me that I don't care in the slightest what happens to him? If he's found guilty, it will be a racist plot to bring him down. If he's found innocent, it will be because he's a celeb who can buy his way out of anything. The OJ thing really burned me out on this crap.

It's along the same lines as the Weather Channel's "yep, it's still rainy and windy here" during last year's hurricanes. They had no news, they were just there and wanted to remind everyone of that. If the palm tree closest to their building fell, they would have reported it.

Stories like "Reporters take a leak" are stories intended to say "there's going to be news here! We'll bring you the latest! We won't miss anything! Don't change the channel, please? Please? We'll report everything there is to say as long as you keep watching us right here. There's more to tell you, really!"

I would suggest that people just turn off CNN and MSNBC and the like, but based on ratings numbers everyone already is.

Dude, I turned off the new shortly after the beginning of the year. It just caused me to be preoccupied with situatons over which I had no control, sucking my attention away from my own life. I don't even listen to NPR anymore. I'll look at the headlines on my yahoo home page, and if something is interesting to me I'll read the article, but, otherwise, I'll scan Huffingtonpost.com, Michaelmoore.com, listen to "Le Show" and "Left, Right and Center," and watch Jon Stewart. My time and energy are more usefully spent on voting and being socially responsible. Why do I care one tiny bit about celebrity "news" coverage?

Even typing this, I'm getting het up over things that have nothing to do with my life. Feh.

Interesting that you didn't mention Fox, whose ratings have steadily declined since the election.

TV Newser cited a CNN press release which gave these totals for Fox's primetime audience in the 25 to 54 age bracket: Oct. 04: 1,074,000; Nov. 04: 891,000; Dec. 04: 568,000; Jan. 05: 564,000; Feb. 05: 520,000; March 05: 498,000; April 05: 445,000. That amounts to a decline of 58 percent, with no sign of leveling off.

Other cable stations' ratings were also down since the election, but CNN's, for example, appeared to have stabilized last month while Fox's continued to drop.
