Tours in DC?

My Aunt is going to DC for a few days in May and wants to try and do a few tours. She was hoping for some sort of night bus tour of the monuments. Anyone know of any they can recommend?

She'll also need a place to stay. She's going back for a work conference that starts on a Monday so she's thinking of going in on Thursday or Friday and touring around for the weekend before she heads to VA for the conference.

My parents have been twice. If I remember, they had to reserve a tour in advance... I'm thinking it was months in advance. Maybe I'm remembering wrong though. Better find out quick!
