I lived in Flrodia for a few years in the 70s. Our home backed up to an orange grove.

We could go to bed with nothing in our yard, and wake up to a red ant mound 2 feet by 2 feet and 6-8 inches high. Those things were incredible. New show in the ant world - extreme mound makeover - they have 7 minutes instead of 7 days.

Anyway, the only way to get rid of them was to pour gas or kerosene on the mound and ignite it. Just too many of them for any insecticide method. not that I would endorse that method for indoors issues. I feel I must make the disclaimer for fear of lawsuit when someone tries it.

My dad did this to the red ant hill in our street. I was bitten by those guys a couple times. I was sure the fire would hit some sort of gas main and blow us all to kingdom come. All that happened is that the ants stayed away, permanently.

I went to put on my contacts this morning and what do I find? Dead ants swimming in my contact case! No other ants to be found.

Did you leave it open? I'm rather meticulous about shutting mine. My eyes get pissed off at my contacts enough as it is, without ant parts in the mix. Blech.

No that's the weird thing. It was snapped shut but I think that's the problem it's not a screw on cap it's snaps on and off I'm sure they found a way to get in. So I'm with no contacts for a few hours. I'd rather wear glasses then have Ant guts in my eye's
