I'm awfully envious. Several years ago, there was a slight chance I might have been sent to work in Tokyo for a while, so I got some Pimsleur language tapes. (Pimsleur are amazingly great audio language aids, but unbelievably expensive.) Anyhow, it didn't end up happening, but I still have a "yen" to go. (But not nearly enought yen, if y'know what I mean...)
one phrase from the tapes that has stuck with me: "Watashino tokorode nannika nomimassen ka?" "Would you like to have something to drink at my place?" Of course, if I were to use this line on someone and they actually said yes ("hai"), I would have no idea what to say next. Flippyshark (fu-ri-pi-shaa-ku) |
