Was some of it filmed at the Huntington Gardens? I thought I remembered that as well.
I have to say, I spent, gosh, was it Wednesday nights? watching this show with my folks. First was Love Boat, right? Then Fantasy Island? I would love to watch these old shows. I also trip out remembering the people who were on it. One that sticks out in my mind~ Billy Crystal as 'The Kissing Bandit'.  Glad to see that I am not the only one who was into this...the kids just don't understand....
