Okay, I know this was about the only logical thing to do in this situation, but it still strikes me as odd.

I think it beats just disposing of them in a landfill. thats just a waste. from my understanding there are states where you are allowed to take the meat from deer you've hit with your car or otherwise have been accidentally killed as well.

I know it sounds a bit on the strange side, but in the grand scheme of things, to simply dispose of them seems a bigger waste than it need be.

there was a story not long ago in the news where a small (south american?) village lost their entire herd of sheep over a cliff. the primary source of their survival thru wool, meats, milks etc. they immediately went to work butchering the carcasses for the meat to prevent it from being a total loss. it supplied enough funds to the village to start repopulating their herd and therefore their livelyhood.

while thats probably not the case with a bunch of freaked out reindeer leaping off a parking structure, the rest of it makes sense in a 'waste not want not' sorta way.
