I usually like Pinot over Merlot, but I still love a nive dry Cabernet to have with a steak - yum! Beaujolais is a nice change for a red wine, since it's the only one you can propperly chill, it's also usually best when fresh.

I'm also a sucker for Australian Shiraz and Italian Chiante.

In any case I think the best part about wine drinking is the sampling and finding something you like - buying it till it's no longer available and starting the search agian. It's always fun to have a quest.
