Very true CP. I am just concerned that it seemed like that episode didn't tell the full story. I think something may have happened. That is just a gut feeling.

Maybe it was something in his subconscious trying to get out. Here poor Hurley was having these food issues again and wanting to stop but something wouldn't let him. Then his "friend" shows up as he is really trying to deal with those issues and trying to gain self-confidence. So, he reverted back to something he was used to, making excuses and bringing back a character in his life that made him feel better about himself. Did that make any sense? I think having an imaginary friend isn't necessarily the worst mental health issue in the world. Although I would be nervous if my imaginary friend was telling me to jump off a cliff.
