Ho-hum, you're not even my first friend to be involved in a train wreck.

I'm very relieved you're ok, but now that your health is assured - - - what I mostly want is for you to imbibe enough relief liquor to spin this into a fascinating yarn.

Be a good chap and oblige, won't you?

Well having just put this on my - I shall cross post i here:

Quote:
Ever have one of those days? Of course you have. We all have. It's just not every day that the Metaphor become real as it did for me today. Because you see, my train wreck of a day ended with an actual train wreck.

Of course you must understand that I am still invoking some artistic license here, for my day has yet to end and in fact as it truly is ending I'm enjoying a glass of whiskey, with little thought of a train wreck at all - that is until I started this post.

But, truth be told on my way home, riding in the socially conscious Blue Line, we struck a car and came to a stop - no injuries to those o us in the train, but a train wreck none-the-less.

So what went wrong? The morning was actually quite delightful - a vendor meeting at the Glendale Hilton, a Metro Ride, late enough to allow me to sleep in, pick up a co-worker, some sessions and then home early, or maybe a stop at Universal to hi to my friend Matt.I was ready for just such a day.

Things started to go awry at lunch when we agreed to hold the presentations through it to get out even earlier. But maybe it started before that - my coworker must have gotten 5 or 6 pages by the time lunch rolled around. In any case the situation was such that we ended early enough where my coworker felt she should go back to the office. Despite my arguments and excuses, I finally yielded and returned to our main office. I had nothing, no note, no laptop, nothing got do my job. I thought perhaps I could hijack a stray computer and at least check my email.

What followed was a series of events that I probably can't even share in my friends list yet, but I withdrew my application for the supervisor job I bid for and was going to interview for tomorrow, had a long talk with the hiring manager, my coworker, and the finance manger, who all told me stuff I shouldn't know that is cause for great anxiety in some, but actually make s me rather excited for the future. Need less to say, I spent quite some time dealing with the anxious - who just frustrated me all the more.

So finally I was going home - it was all I wanted to do since lunch and I think Lisa got several "I'm coming home now messages" before it actually happened. I took the shuttle to the train and two stops in, listening to my iPod reading my Granta, I felt a thud and smelled burnt rubber as we slowly grinded to a halt just past an intersection. The saddest part of this event is I didn't realize it was happening until well after the fact. I called Lisa - and she called me back not having heard my message. Meanwhile the other rider argued if the slight bump we felt was a car (doubtful) or a suicide (aka pedestrian - actually it turned out to be a car trying to make a turn a "beat" the train). Before you knew it an armada of news copters were hovering above me as a reporter interview the train driver. Paramedics and firemen walked the aisles asking if anyone had injuries and soon enough the Sheriff was yelling at all of us to get on the other side of the police line."uh okay so, where are we supposed to go?"

So I walked to the next stop - the new end of the line to wait the next train, give Lisa a call, and reflect on the day. Fortunately, a train was sent back before my boredom sent me to the strip club down the street, for the only other storefronts in the area just seemed to sell live poultry.

So I sip my whiskey - reflect - ponder the day - It's only Tuesday! - and wonder what the rest of the week will bring. but today was definitely a train wreck of a day - duly noted.

Glad you are ok. It's no fun being on a train that hits someone.
Been there, done that.

Glad your metaphoric train wreck of a day and the literal icing on the cake of your day resulted in you getting home safe and sound to NA.

I'm glad you were not hurt during the whole ordeal. That must be a pretty solid train. For it to hit a car and all you felt was a bump? That's amazing. You're fine, *whew* !

I am so very glad you're OK.

And I'm so very glad you're feeling excitement about whatever at work is a cause of some anxiety. I don't know exactly what this is, but I hope that it allows you to blaze a better trail.

Ride safely today.

THANK GOD YOU ARE OKAY!!

Nothing is worse then being caught in a wreck! The palpitations that occur beforehand are deafening.

I'm so happy you are okay. You & Lisa relax, and take a day to yourself!

And of course, whiskey rules!
