If you must know the boring truth, here goes:
Early last Monday morning, I put on insufficient footwear and proceeded to drag the three bins from the side of our house to the curb for pickup. I successfully negotiated the 30-foot trip with the garbage and recylables, and had just gone back to get the compost from the house, when I lost my footing on the landing between the basement and the kitchen. I pitched forward, about to do a header down the stairs (a bad thing), so I grabbed onto a metal rail and twisted myself away from the staircase. Unfortunately, the force of the fall was so great that as I came around, I slammed my back into said metal rail. One sickening crunch later, and I was on the floor.
Fast forward nine days to yesterday. No bruising, no weird symptoms - except major radiating pain. A trip to the good doctor reveals the cracked (or maybe just bruised) rib.
Ow.

The moral of the story: housework can be hazardous to your health.

Sucks, doesn't it. And there's nothing you can do. I cracked a rib on the Texas Giant in Dallas years ago. Ow ow ow ow ow!

Sooo... I'm gonna brag. Again. Because fall semester sucked so very much and spring was apparently much MUCH better. Got my comments back on my appellate brief this morning.

This is really quite an impressive appellate brief. You’ve done an extremely good job on this brief. Your treatment of the three issues is clear and persuasive. The writing is excellent. Your sentences are very well constructed; they are concise and easy to read. That is particularly impressive in light of the loosely structured tests for some of the issues. You also make excellent use of topic sentences; your rules are consistently formulated in a light favorable to your client; and you make excellent and persuasive use of favorable case language. Moreover, the brief is well-structured. The organization is clear and logical, and you’ve done a very nice job with making the assertion-headings clear and persuasive. In addition, the research and analysis are outstanding. You’ve done an outstanding job of suppporting your arguments with authority and selecting cases and language that best support your client’s theory of the case. I am especially impressed by the sophistication of your harmless error analysis. Finally, the citation is very good, and the brief contains only a few scattered surface errors. In short, as an appellate judge I would find this brief exceptionally persuasive and a pleasure to read. Once again you have produced a truly outstanding piece of work. Grade: A+
