Sex and the ciggarette - why is smoking sexy?:

It's phallic
The post coital puff
Self-indulgent, done purely for pleasure - and/or addiction
Opportunity for an opening line - to light one up/borrow one/stand aside away from the crowd.
There are smoking fetish websites (just put sex and smoking into google for more)

And yet I don't smoke - I'm much better with a Martini Glass (see why drinking is cool/sexy) - I don't enjoy it and thus never look cool doing it, but some are masters of it and I have no problem with that.
