Spend that time deciding what you want from your change (eg: what you want different in your life). Write down your goals using positive language (eg: "I want to ___" instead of "I want to not ____"). Writing goals down commits you to them mentally.

I haven't done that a lot in my life, but the goals I've written down usually came to pass: I went on foreign exchange to England, I've worked for Disneyland, I graduated USC. The hardest part about making your life the way you want it is when you don't know what you want. You can't aim at a vague idea, so pick something specific, and even if you miss the mark a bit, you'll be a lot closer than if you never had a mark at all.

I think it depends on why you're unhappy with things, and that is the hardest thing for many people to figure out. If you don't know what it is, you don't know if you're just taking it with you.

Well stated. For me it had to do with complacency. I was too happy in my nothing job at Disney to move forward as an adult, and I was going broke VERY quickly. So by leaving my comfort zone, I got my career AND education back on track, and was eventually able to return to SoCal and finish my degree back at USC like I wanted to.

I also want to be clear that I said that as a general thing, not for Prudence specifically. Her last post it just sounds like a case of "senioritis" or "get on it with it already."

That's normal (at least in my experience) for any time there is a big change looming.
