Humm, sounds like he was looking to do a little moonlighting. No one would notice if one or two "duds" went missing from each show. Over time you build up enough to do some of your own shows for country clubs or smaller townships. Good money in that. Especially for someone with a background of doing pyrotechnics for Disney.
