Now that Gary has a smoker he wants to make bacon. First he has to find a butcher to buy the pork belly from. Thankfully i think it will take him a little while.

Shhh, don't tell him! We actually went to the butcher a couple towns over and they don't carry such a thing
 The only brisket they had was 5 pounds, not quite what he had in mind.I found him a 12 pound brisket up in Salem but no pork belly there either. So someday when he has the time he can look around Portland before he heads home. He actually saw a Gartners ad this weekend and said he'd go there. I know him though and he hates to shop so I suspect I have little while before he does. Then again, every weekend he's out there smoking something, in the smoker this time, and having a good old time. This weekend we did pork loin. I made my half kaulua pork and he did some apple juice marinade. We shredded them both up and Yummm! |

I kind of thought it was crazy that they couldn't order what we wanted too!
The boy looked at me tonight and asked if we had something nonpork to eat. He had little brisket sandwiches. I guess I'll do pork but I can't decide between the kaulua, which I'd need to make rice for, or just having some of the bbq sauced up apple pork. Hmmm..... choices and ones I like for once! |
