Real. Feel free to do the research yourself if you don't believe me!

I believe the argument over sourdough starter and Utah history is kinda silly.

I believe that people who make outrageous claims shouldn't be surprised when they are called on it. (Especially on this board!)

So do I [to Kevy], but I am having visions of the people on Antiques Roadshow learning that the Chinese table saved by a great-grandfather during the Boxer Rebellion was actually purchased from the J.C. Pennys catalog in 1967.

Was that Kevy who asked if some tangent of talk here was silly. Um, Pot and Kettle ever go out on a date?
JW, I hope you don't think I was impuning your research or integrity. I just couldn't resist making some crack about the DCA sourdough exhibit ... from wence I, for one, gleaned all the sourdough knowledge I have. * * * * On a more pertinent note. I have decided not to rent a Cabin 2.5. The responses I got from the waiting list people were about 50/50, but it didn't seem to me reliable enough that a cabin would be cost effective. Granted, even at $70/night, that's still roughly half of what decent Valley accomodations are running. But I can't afford either. I was a dope for not jumping in to the original cabin with the thought of paying for 4 nights and staying only two. Well, being that two of the people ahead of me on the waiting list have dropped out, I'm just going to trust to providence. One way or the other, I intend to be there on the LashPair's first day in Yosemite Valley ... after all, I'm the one who nudged them endlessly to go there. So if I have to stay at a Motel 6 in Fresno, I'll be there for that day. But I can't afford $300 to stay a couple of nights in Yosemite. Of course, I could be in better financial shape come next April ... but considering what April 15 is going to mean to my finances next year, I seriously doubt it. ![]() |

Maybe closer to the date something will make itself known.

I have an antique silver pitcher from the 1800's, with a dent in it. The story that it came with is that the dent happened when a woman threw it at an Indian (feathers not dots), who barged into her cabin, and it bounced off his head and hit the floor.
I like the story, because it makes it interesting than just being an antique on my shelf. I remember the story well from when I was a kid, and found it interesting then too. It might be outrageous though, so if someone would like to do the research on it, please feel free to call me out. I know the first person's name who gave it to my mother a long time ago - Rebecca. So, there's the lead. Be it bread, antiques or anything, all stories should be verified and researched before told, dammit! Truth is important here, people! ![]() And, if anyone even remotely starts to tell campfire ghost stories while we're at Yosemite, I'm so disproving you, just because I can! ![]() And in closing, I leave one of my fave cartoons: Last edited by Disneyphile : 06-18-2008 at 07:50 PM. |
