Getting rid of a lot of stuff. Just cleaning some stuff out of the barn and putting it out prompted someone to come by asking about it. I anticipate feeling like the house is sort of empty when we leave and move in... but easier to keep clean for sure. Anyone have any advice on moving with cats and dogs? We had one little dog when we moved here - and a fairly short trip of about an hour. Now we have 2 kittehs and 2 pup-dogs (both are chihuahuas). I have one carrier and will have to pick up a few more... hopefully those cardboard ones will work. What else should I be thinking about with the pets and moving?

				            | Drugs. Lots of drugs. Either for you or the pet. But not both.

				            | Well I'd your chihuahuas are like ours they LOVE to ride actually. Once they are on the car in their carrier they are quiet and sleep mainy for the entire drive. They LOVE to travel. Now the cats I've had to take them to my parents house for renovations last Oct and even though that was a 90 minute trip by car that was so awful...they hated being in their carriers and meowed constantly...good luck... You might want to consider getting some sort of "calm down" pills or liquid at your local pet store to sedate the cats before traveling with them a long distance. That stuff works. |

				            | Valerian is supposed to work well with some cats to calm them down.

				            | My husband leaves for Vegas today. This is, by far, the longest we'll be apart since we started dating. Happy overall - but I'm going to miss him sooooo much. He's got the tough part - going out and getting a house and then working and living alone for a few weeks. I'll have the support back here of family still.

				            | I am sorry you are sad. It won't be long and you will be back together in a new house.

| Senior Member | I don't know how attached your are to furniture etc but I know my cousin moved out here from Tennessee and her big regret was paying to move all her furniture out. She said it cost so much and when she got here housing was different and nothing really went anyway. Also I sold a chair to a couple through Craigs list who had moved here from NJ. They said they'd sold all their furniture on Craigs list there and were getting all new here. They said they'd gotten a lot nice things for really cheap. I know I put stuff on there low just to get it out of my house and I'm sure a lot do the same.

				            | Well - he's there and exhausted. Driving in a Jeep Wrangler without a/c really knocked the wind out of sails. So - motel room and a little recovery time. Hopefully he can get the housing squared away tomorrow instead.

				            | Housing mission is complete! Yay! A huge weight has been lifted. No worries about him needing a motel room another night and he can begin to get settled. I'm so excited! SQUEEEE!
