We're planning on going tomorrow night, but I'm sure we need go early to get passes. Are they "selling out" quickly?

Yes. The park opened at 10am. I was at the rope at 9:30 (Magic Mornings had Fantasyland and Tomorrowland opened, but Fronteirland and Adventurland roped off), and the reservation podium was waiting for us when the rope dropped at 10:00. However, they were not taking ressies for the 5:15 show at first. I had to wait until after the 11:00 show started so they could see if demand warrented that show. Perhaps because it was rainy that day, I'm not sure. I went over to DCA and rode Racers (5 min walk on for single rider!) and went back over and got the 5:15 tickets at about 11:15. At that point they were only about half sold out, Kevy. But on a weekend they may sell out faster.

We arrived a little after 1:00 today and they said all ressies were gone by 11:00. However, we were able to do standby for the 2:00 show. I think they even accommodated walk-ups.

Going today, after my market. Want to see it again, before it glows away forever. It's not a perfect show, but it's entertaining, and nostalgic. Later this week, after it closes, I'll post my review of the AP dinner experience that Keith and I attended on opening night.

Oh, and I was the one that the mirror reflection hit in the face for an uncomfortable amount of time. At least I have too much hair to get the lipstick souviner on the bald head.

Got to see The Golden Horseshoe Revue "salute" last weekend, and it was such a fun trip down sweet memory lane. I wish they would have done "Lookin' for My Big City Beau" as Miss Lilly's big audience participation number, but the one they did was just fine - and in all fairness, that number likely changed many times during the show's record-breaking run.

And many numbers changed during the run - EXCEPT the opening and closing were always the same. They kept the opener, but for some bizarre reason eliminated Pecos Bill as the closer - and all of the Wally Boag part. That was just strange, as it was easily the most popular part of the show. Maybe they felt that Wally Boag could not be imitated, but that Betty Taylor could. Oddly, that left their cowboy with nothing to do, and their tenor with nothing to do, too - as they cut his song also. (Heheh, side note - the actor playing the tenor in the Salute was found on Grindr by Isaac). So my quibble is - they could have done a full revival of the show by including 2 songs. But it was still ultra sweet, and I'm glad I got to see it at the very end of its limited run. |
