How true !! Even at McDonalds, they flipped over their counter-mat menu, and there it was in English for us !!

Google is a good start.

We usually plan:
$5-10 for breakfast, same for lunch, $25 for Dinner
The rail link posted a few posts up gives you prices for travel.
