I bought a book at the Awahnee Hotel, entitled "Deaths in Yosemite". It tells of all the deaths in the park since it's discovery, and is loaded with tales that sound very much like NA's and Co's, except for the outcomes. This is one park you MUST have respect for and a cautionary spirit to experience- it's no ordinary state park. Plenty of very experienced climbers, hikers and such have died, often in a very spectacular and gruesome fashion.

Grand Canyon has a similar book - mostly about people who took one to many steps backwards while taking photos. Stop moving backwards to get a better shot was a part of our vocabulary.
