We watched an episode of Bill Nye's preachy new show, Stuff Happens. In this episode Bill Nye tried to make me feel guilty about eating bacon because use of anchovies in commercial pig farming feed is contributing to the collapse of world fish populations.

Ha! If you want to feel guilty about eating bacon try the cruel farming practices on the pigs themselves! That being said, Zack and I did have half a real BLT from Wildflower a few weeks ago. So good! You can still be a vegetarian if you only eat a fourth of a bacon sandwich, right?

wasnt 'tempted'...was actually tricked into trying it
along with:

horse (decent)
bear (interesting, but gamey as hell)
rattlesnake (not half bad)
gator (yummo)
sea cucumber (I spewed)
and something else they never did tell me what it was...

I hate my relatives

Had gator (tasted like the breading it was coated in), elk, venison, and antelope. Nothing terribly odd. And pheasant. My family hunted when I was a kid.

All of it would be better with bacon.

I think I wouldn't be trying any food your relatives cooked, Capt!

I was like 12 or 13 visiting kin in TX. my uncle thought it would be funny to feed me a hunk of the horse meat he was BBQing for the dogs.

Id have eaten the entire horse to see that again...

that started a chain of food events that (except for the sea cucumber) took on a life of its own. phone calls and neighbor visits.."you still have any of that (whatever) left? can we have some?"

(ever seen King of the Hill? THOSE are my relatives...which is prob why I hate that show)

Rattlesnake is pretty good, though a lot of work for not much meat. But the fact that, once skinned, they're translucent is pretty cool.
